You don’t have to travel far. You can take a day trip in any direction from where you live to discover the surprises around you. To inspire you, here are two quotes about jumping in a car and hitting the open road:
“I travel not to go anywhere but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” – Robert Louis Stevenson, Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes
“A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us.” – John Steinbeck
This particular day, I decided to drive one of America’s Scenic Byways, Route 160, along River Road that stretches along the California River Delta, a complex system of rivers, channels and canals, from the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers. Along the way, there are many historical and quaint towns that line the landscape, each town and place revealing so many surprises, so much beauty, and great experiences.
“I see my path, but I don’t know where it leads. Not knowing where I’m going is what inspires me to travel it.” – Rosalía de Castro
